CREATE BETTER RESEARCHERS / OUR APPROACH

Better feedback.
Stronger judgement.

CBR develops the researcher development commitment of the ISPC Strategy 2030. We aim to help researchers assess evidence, make informed revisions and share their knowledge with others. Digital & AI Management provides our starting point; relevant learning can also support research beyond this field.

01

Start with the work and the person behind it

A manuscript may contain a promising idea alongside weaknesses that need substantial attention. Feedback should help the researcher understand both. Criticism should address the argument, method or evidence and explain the reason for the concern.

02

Make the next step clear

We want developmental feedback to identify a specific issue, explain its significance and suggest a realistic way forward. Essential revisions should be distinguished from optional improvements so that researchers can focus their effort.

03

Build independence through revision

Researchers should be able to question a recommendation, check its basis and explain why they accepted or rejected it. The aim is to help researchers become scientifically more capable and more independent, strengthening their ability to make and defend scientific decisions.

04

A development cycle

1. Define the question. State what you want to understand and why it matters.

2. Examine the draft. Look for strengths, gaps and inconsistencies in the argument and evidence.

3. Make a revision plan. Prioritise the issues that affect the scientific contribution.

4. Revise and reflect. Document important choices and check whether the revision resolves the issue.

5. Choose your next step. Decide whether more work is needed and where you wish to submit.

05

Connect research with responsible practice

Researchers should be able to explain what their findings mean for organisations and society, and where their evidence stops. We aim to support clear communication of practical implications, uncertainty and limits, particularly in digital transformation and the responsible use of AI.

06

Development with honest boundaries

Some problems require additional data, different methods or a fundamental rethink. A manuscript may still be unsuitable for publication after revision. Clear explanations and respectful treatment remain essential in those cases.

Participation in development support is intended to be voluntary and independent of ISPC registration. Researchers choose where to publish and may later contribute their own expertise as reviewers, mentors or collaborators.
